Heinz Announces Winners in 2010 Ketchup Creativity Contest

The votes have poured in and the anticipation is over for the 12 winners in the annual Heinz Ketchup Creativity™ Contest. Out of tens of thousands of entries, pop artist Burton Morris and a panel of judges narrowed the field to 36 finalists. America determined the winners in an online vote and from those 12 winners, a grand prize winner has been chosen.

Heinz Ketchup lovers across the U.S. will be able to see grand prize winner Jordan De La Rosa’s artwork on 20 million Heinz Ketchup packets and approximately 2.5 million Heinz Ketchup bottles in the next school year. Jordan, a third grade student from John H. Shary Elementary School in Mission, Texas, also will receive $5,700 and a school visit from Burton Morris.

Choosing a grand prize winner from the 12 winning packet designs was no easy task,” said Erin Catalina, associate brand manager for Heinz Ketchup. “But Jordan’s colorful Heinz Ketchup bottle, hot dog, hamburger and French fry characters represent the joy Heinz Ketchup brings to mealtime.”

It’s great to see students express themselves creatively, using one of their favorite foods, Heinz Ketchup, for inspiration,” said artist Burton Morris. “America can enjoy the 12 winning designs, which will appear on nearly 200 million ketchup packets combined, at schools and foodservice venues in the 2010 – 2011 school year.”

In addition to having their artwork reproduced on 20 million Heinz Ketchup packets each, the 12 winners also will receive a $1,000 cash prize; their schools receive $1,000 toward art supplies, a poster of the winning design and $1,000 worth of Heinz Ketchup.
