IKEA, which is known for developing ready-to-use home design solutions and functional furniture for urban living space, is now going further and introduces aktiv, the first project in a new line of designed by Oregon-based ideabox, which produce dwellings to maximize people’s lifestyle. The new house model is “designed to live in… with all the fun, function, and practicality found in every ideabox,” writes the website of the agency behind the project. As any other project devised by ideabox, aktiv is created to meet the needs of Pacific-Northwest homeowners and is totally cost-saving, eco-friendly and is packed with IKEA products.

The house, priced at $86,500, has a kitchen/dining space, a living room, a bedroom and two storages, which is quite enough for a couple. On moving in, the house will be already furnished and all the vital parts of it will get assembled and installed by professionals. As to the lines of furniture used for outfitting the house, the IKEA package includes Tundra maple flooring, Pax wardrobes, and Abstrakt cabinets—of course, dwellers will be able to add their own elements, but the start is more than great.

“Working with IKEA designers, we designed aktiv around IKEA systems. In the kitchen, IKEA offers a lot of flexibility in kitchen cabinets. We designed the layout, and our clients can select the colors. IKEA appliances offer state-of-the-art cooking, so we included an induction cooktop and convection oven. A counter depth refrigerator keeps food fresh, and cabinet faced dishwashers provide seamless functionality. Proven by millions walking on them in IKEA stores, aktiv offers IKEA flooring, a perfect match for active Northwest lifestyles. The bath features a ‘huge’ two sink vanity and four drawers along with a storage cabinet. The bedroom features the amazingly functional IKEA built-in series of closet systems,” states ideabox.
Those, who want to learn more about the design, can send ideabox an inquiry—they also could visit the Portland Home & Garden Show (February 22-26) to see the fully furnished aktiv house on display there.
