As part of its commitment to expanding education opportunities for girls and women, Intel is launching new programs and strategic partnerships.
The new global action campaign entitled 10×10 aimed empower girls around the world features the ‘Girl Rising,’ 10×10’s full-length feature film which unveils extraordinary stories of real girls that despite difficult circumstances go forward to their dream. The goal of the film that will premiere in March is to increase empathy and inspire people.
In support of the film’s message, Intel is collaborating with many influencing partners and policy makers. The partners are spreading the facts of their research which proves that educating girls breaks the cycle of generational poverty.
Intel’s influential programs encompass a variety of tools to provide girls with information they need to know.
For example, Intel Learn program is focused on technology literacy, problem-solving and collaboration. The initiative has reached approximately 900,000 girls and young women in 18 countries around the world since its founding in 2004. The Intel Teach program provides K-12 teachers with the tools they need and trains them.
Intel Easy Steps provides adult women training in entrepreneurship and business skills to help them break through barriers to personal economic growth. Intel Computer Clubhouse Network offers an after-school, community-based learning program for girls and boys in need.
In collaboration with Ashoka Changemakers Intel has launched ‘She Will Innovate: Technology Solutions Enriching the Lives of Girls,’ a competition open to innovators who develop technologies that enable girls and women to live healthier, smarter and more meaningful lives. On November 14, the competition winners will be awarded with more than $30,000 in prizes. Another project, Ashoka Fellows, sponsors social entrepreneurs with innovative technology solutions that address women’ related issues.
Intel is supporting Half the Sky Movement: The Game, which launches November 13 on Facebook seeks inspire girls to use their opportunities. The Code for Good initiative is aimed to develop mobile applications that address challenges facing girls in education. And finally, the company supports the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s initiative, Equal Futures Partnership.
