Intel Is Looking for ‘Superstars’

Intel has been a long-time supporter of emerging talents in areas of technology, and this time it decided to turn to music to help aspiring musicians spread their wings. In the middle of this summer, Intel, Cakewalk (the world’s leading developer of products for music creation and recording) and music site OurStage.com teamed up together to launch a new exciting competition for songwriters and music producers.

The «Superstars» contest invites artists to submit original music in six music genres: Rock, Pop, Country, Singer-Songwriter, Urban, and Latin. The submitted tracks will be judged by fans of Intel’s Facebook page with $50,000 in 31 prizes—five winners from each genre and one Grand Prize—to be awarded.

The Grand Prize is $10,000 cash that can be used to record an album, tour the country, fix up the band van, pay the rent, or anything else a «Superstar» would need. Entrance in the «Superstars» competition is free but is limited to residents of the United States. Submissions may be created using any recording solution. Musicians and fans without recording software can download a fully-functioning 30-day trial version of SONAR Producer.

The competition opened for Pop, Rock and Country on July 1 and is running through August 31, 2010 (song submission deadline is August 22). Entrants can submit an original song at www.facebook.com/intel. The next three genres for competition—Singer-Songwriter, Urban and Latin—will begin September 1 and run through October 31, 2010 (with a submission deadline of October 22). After the genre programs complete, the Top 5 in each genre competition will receive prize packs. Additionally, the Top 20 of every music format will also roll into a Grand Prize competition.

Brazilian fans of music and Intel are not eligible to take part in the contest, still they are invited to test their musical skills in the dedicated section of the corporate website. The August 2010 issue of Rolling Stone Brazil magazine featured Intel ads with an AR code (they can also be printed from the site), which allow readers to play a digital guitar or mix tracks on a DJ set online.
