The Jack Daniel Distillery will celebrate its 161st birthday and in honor of its founder, Jack Daniel, will try to place the American distillery business pioneer in Guinness World Records history.
On this occasion, the whiskey’s moniker ‘Old No.7’ will be a reason for Jack Daniel’s to break not one, but seven world records in one day. Jack fans from across the globe will have the opportunity to join and help.
The distillery founder, Jack Daniel was ‘an avid entertainer and loved a good celebration’, says the official press release. To follow the tradition Jack Daniel’s will kick off with a record-breaking birthday celebration at South Street Seaport in New York City on September 1 from 12:00 pm—2:00 pm. All brand’s fans are invited to join and celebrate the man behind the world’s best-selling whiskey.
Jack Daniel’s Master Taster Jeff Norman, who will also host the event said: «We are excited to honor Mr. Jack’s birthday in such a unique way. Jack Daniel’s is known and respected in more than 135 countries, so it’s only fitting to celebrate his birthday by attempting to break a few world records, continuing his tradition of making history.»
So, Jack Daniel’s will challenge itself to do the following:
Most Contributions to a Greeting Card: This record is measured in the number of unique greetings written in the same greeting card by different individuals. Jack fans from around the world can delegate birthday greetings to Jack by visiting the brand’s Facebook page and posting a birthday greeting to be transcribed and joined with event attendees’ greetings on a giant birthday card displayed at the live event.
Largest Glass Bottle Mosaic: Record is for the largest two-dimensional mosaic made from glass bottles and is measured by the number of whole glass bottles used. Famous mosaic artist Herb Williams will use 2,016 Jack Daniel’s bottles to create a large mosaic of a Jack Daniel’s portrait.
Largest Bottle of Whiskey: Jack Daniel’s is to display the world’s largest whiskey bottle, containing more than 180 liters of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.
Largest Gathering of People Born in the Same Month: Jasper Newton ‘Jack’ Daniel was born in Lynchburg, Tenn. in September 1850, but his exact birth date is unknown which is not a problem at all—the folks at Jack Daniel’s celebrate his birthday all month long. So, Jack Daniel’s fans born in the month of September are welcome to join other September birthdays for a minimum of five minutes to become a part of history.
Most Bottles Played (bottle orchestra): Record is for the greatest number of bottles used to play a single tune on glass bottles at the same time at a single venue. More than 470 tuned Jack Daniel’s bottles will be used to play ‘Happy Birthday’ dedicated to Jack and all September birthdays.
Most People Blowing Out Candles Simultaneously: Jack Daniel’s will provide 250 lit candles for attendees to blow out together.
Fastest Time to Build a 20 Shot Glass Pyramid: This record is measured in hours, minutes and seconds to the nearest 100 of a second. Fans will have the opportunity to make history by quickly stacking 20 Jack Daniel’s shot glasses in 30 seconds or less.
All attempts will be validated by the Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator, Kimberly Patrick. If records are successful, Patrick will also present official certification to Jack Daniel’s at the completion of the event.
Jack Daniel’s has recently teamed up with Zac Brown Band for a series of events and responsible drinking promotion.
