Jim Beam Launches ‘The Break’ Surfer Contest

Jim Beam is providing surfers with a great opportunity to show their skills and win big money with the help of the new interactive online contest Jim Beam The Break. The brand has been supporting surfing in Australia for already ten years, and now it is going to award 2 surfers with $75,000 to make their dream of competing in the WQS come true.

The brand will give $50,000 to one talented male unsigned surfer and $25,000 to one female surfer so that they could become members of World Qualifying Series (WQS) and enter the professional level and compete with professionals. All the contestants need is to submit a 90 second video featuring a minute of their surfing plus half a minute of their self-description. As for now the brand waits for entrants to register, and starting in June they can upload their spots.

The winners will be determined by public voting and jury points (50/50), and in January among pro-surfers they will show what they can. The campaign is developed by The Works agency, Sydney.

«‘The Break’ was developed as a way to give back to Australia’s surfing community, which forms a major part of our market. We know how grueling it can be to compete in surfing, including the financial hardship to get onto the WQS. We are committed to our loyal fans and want to use our position as a market leader to take the brand to new places, and provide two lucky unsigned surfers the leg up they need to get onto the WQS,» says Ray Noble, Brand Director Jim Beam.
