Lady Gaga will “support” her upcoming album ARTPOP with an app

The most eccentric artist on the today’s global pop scene, Lady Gaga, is about to present her full-length studio album ARTPOP, which will also be accompanied by a groundbreaking app, combining technology and various areas of art.

The announcement, made on the artist’s Facebook page, reads that “The app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology with a new interactive worldwide community—‘the auras.’” The app, developed by TechHaus, a technology-focused arm of the Haus of Gaga creative team, and the album will arrive on November 11. Starting September 1, fans will be able to pre-order the new musical product by the diva, and purchase a single from the album on August 19.

The description of the app doesn’t say much about how exactly it will work and what it will be like in detail, but it highlights the app’s connection with the social media world. “Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition,” the post adds. There’re also some references to the “wisdom of crowds,” collectively developed and modified ideas. The application is said to allow users to “share in the ‘adrenaline of fame’ as they build and share their own projects, chat with one another,” in the virtual atmosphere before ARTPOP comes to life, physically and virtually, on November 11. It’s the day when Haus of Gaga will start a “new age” in music—in this new era, art will be driving pop.

The album itself reflects Gaga’s creative journey through the worlds of various (yet unnamed) artists. It will musically describe how her creative perception was influenced by collaborations with other creative individuals. On November 10, Lady Gaga will also host artRAVE, an exhibit of the Haus of Gaga projects and creative tie-ups with a selection of legendary modern art figures including conceptual sculptor Jeff Koons, performance artist Marina Abramovic, fashion photographers Inez&Vindooh as well as playwright/choreographer/painter Robert Wilson. The details of the artistic event are under lock and key.

The new product from Lady Gaga that fuses music and app comes as a successor to Björk’s Biophilia album, released as an iPad app for an enhanced experience.
