Levi’s Asks to ‘Show Us the Way’ in a New Film Contest

On the heels of the launch of Levi’s campaign ‘Go Forth’ on a global scale earlier this year, which encouraged thousands of young people to take action and be one the forefront, the iconic jeanswear brand is kicking off a film competition entitled ‘Show us the way’. To launch this new cinema contest, which encourages participants to show “their visualization of a better tomorrow,” Levi’s has collaborated with the American Film Institute to provide the US community of filmmakers—both amateur and professional—with an opportunity to take a first step to what they really want.

The art of film can change the world, but only if you make it so. It is your responsibility as visual artists and the new leaders of tomorrow to dare to improve the world through your creations,” says the brand. Levi’s is calling pioneers to submit their treatment, “a written description of your movie, detailing the main action with little or no dialogue” from November 3 through February 29 for a chance to get funding for their film and win Levi’s apparel for their cast. The brand will give six winners $5,000 to make their movie and $500 card to buy Levi’s clothing for the actors.

The movies based on the winning treatments will be screened at showcased at AFI Fest in 2012—to produce the shorts, the teams will be given an AFI mentor, who will spent 10 hours working with them. The directors will be invited to visit the festival, and all the expenses will be covered by Levi’s.
