While building the house, consumers are introduced to LG’s five Core Technologies—the Linear Compressor,Inverter Direct Drive, Kompressor technology, Lightwave and Plasmaster—green and smart products that allow reducing negative impact on ecosystem, says LG blog.

“We tried to come up with a fun and interesting yet meaningful way to interact with consumers,” said Moon-bum Shin, executive vice president and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “The main purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of how LG’s Core Technologies can help citizens reduce their impact on the environment. This is the world’s first app that lets participants design a virtual home with such detailed appliance and energy savings information.”

Users can go to a dedicated microsite, register using their Facebook account and start creating their interior in one of three styles: Antique, Modern or Zen. They can personalize the interior by choosing from a host of different decorations and even photos of their friends on Facebook.

In the process of decorating, numbers on the Eco Index show how much energy is saved by selecting each item. LG appliances are also on offer and when users choose them, the mechanism for each corresponding Core Technology is displayed to better illustrate how it helps save energy. The completed Eco Home is then transformed into an interactive movie and users can share it on Facebook.

Last month, LG launched an online initiative aimed to educate young Americans about saving energy at homes.
