To commemorate it 100th anniversary, the French cosmetics producer L’Oréal commissioned a large-scale research project to see what people did to be beautiful in course of the whole history of the mankind. The results of the investigation formed a grand 5 volume book «100,000 Years of Beauty» set by 300 writers of 35 different nationalities and 20 different disciplines.
The authors of the book studied tons of information about people’s strive to look attractive in various epochs, starting from the Stone age up to the current times. Nowadays we have more effective tools to look beautiful, but our ancestors even during the prehistoric period cared about how they look nearly as much as we do now.
The set of volumes costs $295, quite a lot, but it is really worth it.
