Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac Celebrates Its Centenary with a New Film

The House of Martell celebrates 100th anniversary of its iconic Martell Cordon Bleu cognac with the release of a new film ‘A Journey through Martell Cordon Bleu Centenary.’

“The Centenary movie explores the history of Martell Cordon Bleu since its creation in 1912. In a Century of existence, this legendary cognac has crossed oceans and cultures and has become an icon for connoisseurs all over the world. The amber and blue tones echo the colors of Martell and its cognac, the movie continuously changes perspective to reveal the great moments of the history of Cordon Bleu,” reads the brand’s website.

As part of the celebration, Martell has released a special limited edition Cordon Bleu bottle, which is decked in blue and comes with a montre—a miniature bottle traditionally used for cellar masters’ tastings and a blue ribbon.

The festive cognac is made of over one hundred selected eaux-de-vie specially blended by Martell cellar master Benoît Fil and originating exclusively from the Borderies, the most select cru in the cognac region. The blend was being created during two years.

The cognac is both complex and elegant: Martell Of the six crus in the Martell has selected four main cognac AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée): Grande and Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Borderies to create it. The latter AOC—the smallest one famous for producing round and smooth eaux-de-vie—became hallmark of the House and resulted in a rich cognac with a golden copper hue.

In the end of 2011, Martell released the first cognac in a series of of its ‘Millésimes Collection.’
