Microsoft has unveiled the results of its partnership with the City of New Yorkand the New York Police Department (NYPD) for a new unprecedented partnership that will help fight terrorism. The system was officially introduced a week ago in New York City. DAS collects and analyzes public safety data in real time and combines artificial intelligence analytics with video from around a jurisdiction to identify potential threats such as suspicious vehicles or packages and protect citizens and buildings.

The system includes such tools as live video feeds, huge databases of recent crime patterns and can take input direct from the field in real time via police radios, fro example.

While working on the project, NYPD provided Microsoft with the operational knowledge and expertise and Microsoft developed technologies to ensure the solution to make the system functional and capable to effectively protect citizens.

DAS was created to improve public safety for citizens across the globe, and the partners will bring the solution to law enforcement organizations worldwide.

As part of the deal, the City of New York takes a 30% cut on any profits that the company gets from selling the technology to other places the world, says The Guardian.
