Microsoft Calling on to Beware the Googlighting Stranger

Microsoft has almost announced a war to Google unveiling a video entitled ‘Beware the Googlighting Stranger.’ The move is a response to Google’s invasion on Microsoft’s territory where it ‘grows’ its Office suite products. Google continues to develop apps for its free cloud-based suite.

The video is inspired by 1980’s sitcom ‘Moonlighting’ staring Bruce Willis and shows a salesman wearing a tie in Google colors—red, yellow, blue and green. He tries to sale Google apps to some company that refuses to buy it pointing out its minuses—spell check, dependency on constant internet connection and its quickly changeable nature. The whole idea of the video is not to trust Google, a company that uses its audience as test mice and quits its apps without taking into account their wishes.

The YouTube video features a link to a Microsoft’s blog explaining users why free Google apps are a bad alternative to Microsoft products.

«Google Apps is an ever-changing solution with experimental features that can increase complexity and the need for change management and training. When your business needs help, Google Apps support falls short of delivering the kind and level of support you demand…Your organization has diverse needs. With Microsoft, you can deliver the right set of tools for the right users-all with appropriate layers of security and compliance technologies,» says the blog.

This video that is obviously targeting businesses, not regular bloggers, is the second Microsoft attack of Google. On December 31, the company rolled out a ‘G-Mailman’ video featuring a mailman who reads everyone’s mail and searches for key words to create customized ads.

Is these videos are also a part of Microsoft’s first global campaign? It’s interesting, what would be the Google’s answer to the Microsoft’s bizzare move.
