Mozilla Firefox Calls to Support Charitable Causes Presented by 12 Celebrities

It’s easier (and much more pleasurable) to do good to the world when you do that together with a celebrity. Mozilla Firefox is calling all Americans who want to support a social cause and get some memorabilia from their favourite actor or singer to partake in a new initiative entitled Mozilla Firefox Challenge to raise funds for social causes.

We’ve brought together thousands of people to build a better Web. Not for profit, but for good. This holiday season helps us take it one step further. Donate to a celebrity’s charity, join their team or fundraise for your own cause. You will win prizes from the celebrity teams while doing good the world,” states Mozilla on the platform.

The browser invited 12 A-listers, including Will Ferrell (Cancer for College), Jason Bateman (City Year), Zooey Deschanel (The Innocence Project), Paul Rudd (The Rolling Dog Farm), Sean Penn (The J/P Haitian Relief Organization) and Barbara Streisand (Cedars-Sinai Women’s Heart Center), who came up with their charities encouraging public to support the causes they represent, aiming to collect $25,000 for each of the projects by January 11. Mozilla, which kicked off the initiative by donating $5,000 to each charity, also promises to give an additional $25,000 to the sum the winning effort will manage to raise.

Social-minded visitors to the online destination on the www.crowdrise.com platform can donate money to the charity they like and get something from their most-loved celebrity in return. To enter a sweepstakes for a chance to get a special item (usually it’s something signed), one should make a donation indicated by the celebrity. The gifts include a signed cowbell from Will Ferrell, 2 tickets to join Edward Norton at the premiere of “The Bourne Legacy,” a voicemail from Paul Rudd, a signed copy of the “Elf” DVD from Zooey Deschanel or a signed copy of “My Passion for Design” from Barbara Streisand to name but a few.

The Pepsi Refresh Project, another social oriented program which helps social initiatives get money from the soft drinks giant, also saw causes from celebrities among efforts submitted by public.
