Nestlé total sales fell 2.2% to £47.49 billion over the nine months to September. In Europe sales were flat.
The biggest sales growth was in the powdered and liquid beverages category (Nesquik, Nespresso and Nestea brands) which increased by 9.8%. Sales of confectionary brands also rose 4%. And in the petcare category (Purina and Go Cat brands) Nestlé saw the growth too — sales here increased by 8.8%. But the bottled water category (Buxton, Vittel and Pure Life brands) was down by 1.9%.
«In these challenging times, we have been streamlining our structures and product portfolio and, at the same time, we continue to invest in innovative technologies and expand our R&D capabilities around the world. In addition, we have increased spending in product innovation and consumer-facing brand-support,» said Paul Bulcke, Nestlé CEO.
