On March 24, Ashoka’s Changemakers and Nike, which is one of the most popular sport apparel brands known for its commitment to social improvement, launched the global Changing Lives Through Football competition—an addition to its massive Nike Gamechangers campaign—to improve the life of the local communities all round the globe with the help of football. Now the brand invites public to determine the contest winners by voting.
Individuals and non-profitable organizations from all the countries of the world were invited to add their ideas of social improvement thought football until June 11. Having received around 3 hundred submissions during two months and a half, the panel of experts including Andrew Ogilvie, Global Marketplace Director, Sustainable Business + Innovation Team at Nike and Jorginho Campos, Technical Assistant of Brazilian National Football Team among others, selected 12 most engaging projects. Now they are available for voting, which started on July 27 and will be running through August 18.
Nike will name the award holders on August 25. They will share $90,000 in prizes and will get a chance to make their community, city or even the whole country a better place by improving youth sport (namely, football). There will be 3 global winners with the most votes (one grand winner to get $30,000, the fist and the second runner-ups will receive $20,000 and $10,000 correspondingly). The jury will also select 3 regional winners from Brazil, the UK and Africa with projects focused on the particular region (none of them from the previous list), which will receive $10,000 each.
The visitoes are invited to give their votes just one time, still they can spread the word about the project in the social media and through special widgets encourage their friends to rate the ideas.
