Nike to Develop Self-Lacing Shoes

Some futuristic movies, no matter how unbelievable things they might feature, do predetermine what we’ll have tomorrow. Nike, as one of the most innovative brands in the footwear and apparel industry, is going to develop first-ever self-lacing sneakers, very similar to those in «Back to the Future 2». Nike has already patented the new hilarious concept, so we might be welcoming the new high-tech shoe on the shelves of the brand’s venues very soon.

Marty McFly’s high tech trainers have been inspiring the brand for years, but Nike has never came that close to implementing the ‘movie’ concept. Back in 2008, Nike unveiled with its McFly 2015s sneakers, still, it was only about the design and didn’t include the technological aspect. These shoes were without the flashing lights and didn’t lace themselves as those from the movie. But now Nike is going to improve the design and create a new pair, which will be just like the one of the time traveller. Wired.co.uk reports that the upcoming model will surely fasten itself quickly and have “LEDs a-glowing and a detailed breakdown of the batteries, circuits and control-systems.”

Most probably, the new shoes will be launched in 2015, paying tribute to the year when they first ‘appeared’ in the movie. Those, who can’t wait to see the futuristic footwear, can take a sneak peek into the patent sketch here.
