Pringles Supported Armed Forces Day with Arc London

The British public was urged to show its support for the Armed Forces this weekend by sending tweets and Facebook messages saying thank you, as well as filming their personal tributes, in a specially built four-metre tall can of Pringles.

The giant can of Pringles, decorated with a Union Jack, was part of an event held at Plymouth Hoe on June 30—national Armed Forces Day. It was created by brand experience agency Arc London on behalf of its client Pringles.

The campaign was inspired by Justin Bieber’s Guinness World Record for ‘Most widespread social network message in 24 hours’, which was set three months ago. Aiming to rival that scale of engagement, Brits were urged to show their support to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community by posting the following message on Twitter or Facebook on Saturday June 30: I’m saying thank you on #ArmedForcesDay. RT to show your support and set a world record.

At the Plymouth Hoe event implemented by Arc London, Pringles invited guests to step inside a giant Union Jack Pringles can to film personal messages of thanks which will be uploaded to the Armed Forces website. Guests were also given the chance to capture their ‘thank-you moments’ with an on-site Pringles photo booth.

The specially constructed Pringle can houses the technology that allows the public to instantly record messages. Ten thousand free cans of Pringles were also be distributed on the day to mark the launch of a limited edition Union Jack can, which will be available in stores throughout the summer.

“Armed Forces Day is a chance for us to think about how grateful we are to the hard work these people do, and how they make us proud of Britain. This event we’ve created for Pringles brings their support to life in a way that engages families and will put a smile on the faces of everyone involved,” commented Will Glynn-Jones, client services director, Arc London.
