Red Bull, the energy drink brand, which is well-known for its extreme sports and music projects, is going on extending its Red Bull Bedroom Jam program oversees. The project, which originated in the UK three years ago and since then has been encouraging local rock musicians to demonstrate their talent first from their own bedrooms and later on the stage of the biggest music festivals of the country, eventually has arrived in Australia.
The project now allows young Aussie bands (all members are between 14-19 years old) to upload original music videos to the dedicated website to be watched by audiences who can determine the popularity of the music via a “Buzz Chart” embedded in the site. This clever piece of custom built technology ranks the top ten bands in real time based on their online activity across the Red Bull Bedroom Jam site, Myspace, Facebook and Twitter.
The bands that generate the most «buzz» will get the chance to stream a live performance from their bedroom to the world, play in their very own backyard with a headline Aussie band and record in the Red Bull studios in Los Angeles. The first series will run in Australia from now until December. Every band on the top of the “Buzz Chart” on 17 September, October 15, November 12, will win a Bedroom Jam Live Show webcast. These finalists are also to ‘struggle’ online using their Live Shows from November 22 through December 3 for a chance to host Red Bull Bedroom To Backyard Jam to be arranged in December. The initiative is scheduled to extend through to 2013.
The Australian version of the digital-based music competition was developed by Red Bull in collaboration with Sydney-based mixitup company, specializing at arranging music events.
To date, the Red Bull Bedroom Jam project is launched in four countries the UK, Mexico, Sweden and Australia, the newcomer.
