Red Bull Music Academy 2012 Will Hit New York City

The next Red Bull Music Academy 2012 will be held in New York City. The famous Academy has travelled around the world, with previous stops including Berlin, Toronto, London, Madrid, Melbourne, and Cape Town. Founded in 1998, this international workshop changes the host city annually.

New York was chosen as the next city to host the Academy for its iconic status of the birthplace of many of the world’s most significant musical movements. Modern New York City still draws the best music makers from across the States and beyond.

The 2012 Academy will offer musicians five weeks’ worth of workshops, concerts, club nights, and all-round musical events. Musicians can apply to explore NY’s diverse cultural and musical legacies including Harlem’s jazz scene of the 1920s and the cradle of hip hop in Bronx, as well as legendary music venues, such as the Shelter, Limelight, Paradise Garage and CBGBs. Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Bowl and Santos Party House will not be forgotten too.

Producers, musicians, DJs, instrumentalists, and vocalists can download an application form from the Academy website from February 2. The enrollment process is open till April 2, 2012. Special introductory Red Bull Music Academy Sessions being held throughout February and March in over 50 countries worldwide.

“Two groups of successful applicants will represent a diverse range of music styles and methodologies, attend lectures by musical pioneers, and work on their own tunes in custom-built studios,” promises Red Bull.

In London, Red Bull Music academy held an event called ‘Revolutions in Sound’ last fall.
