Red Bull Total Zero Is to Hit US Stores Next Month

Red Bull is expected to launch Red Bull Total Zero in April. Following the low-cal beverages trend, the company is intended to give a new birth to its sugarless energy drink that first debuted in 2009.

PepsiCo has recently launched its Pepsi NEXT, Dr. Pepper is now offering five new low-cal sodas, while other soft drinks companies also have their ‘zero’ varieties. Coca-Cola has its Coke Zero, Honest Tea— Honest Zero, LifeWater—Zero Calorie etc.

The new product will offer a zero calorie/carb/sugar contents with a “new twist” on the classic Red Bull flavor, according to the company. The beverage will be sweetened with aspartame, sucralose and acesulfame K.

BevNET reports that Red Bull wrote then in an e-mail that “it expects Total Zero to further drive incremental sales for the brand and further invigorate the energy drink category with a premium new offering.”

The company also said it conducted a research that showed continued growth for reduced carbohydrate/calorie energy drinks, which is now 31 percent of the category. Total Zero will have a suggested retail price of $2.19 for a 8.4 oz. can.
