Samsung Introduces the First Android 4.0 Tablet, Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)

Samsung Electronics yesterday, on February 13, introduced its new Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0). Available in 3G and WiFi versions, the tablet is the first one in the 2012 range. The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) will be launched in global market from March, starting from UK.

The new tablet differs from the previous Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1s. Being Samsung’s first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)-powered tablet, the device features a wide range of improved Android OS features providing users with faster performance. Currently, Android Market offers access to more than 400,000 applications for phones or tablets. The app gallery was redesigned for easier sharing of content.

Android 4.0 has a selection of embedded Google applications including the innovative Face Unlock feature that unlocks the tablet through unique facial recognition software.

The 7-inch display device also features a variety of entertainment hubs. The Music Hub provides a full music store solution with access to over 17 million tracks, while the Readers Hub gives user access to over 2.3 million e-books, 3,500 magazines and over 2,000 newspapers in 51 languages. The Game Hub offers the latest game titles, and the Video Hub boasts of 1,000 film titles for purchase or rent.

The new tablet is tailored to satisfy social media fans, providing them with great communication opportunities, including the voice call capability, allowing users easily connect to people without using their primary phone. There is also the ChatON service for instant messaging and group chatting that uses phone numbers instead of ID and passwords.

The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)’s multimedia experience is enhanced by Samsung’s AllShare Play, a new content-sharing service, which allows users to play or live-stream their multimedia content on their Galaxy Tab from other devices.
