Samsung Proves That Almost Anyone with Passion and NX Camera Can Take Photos No Worse Than David Bailey

To promote its new NX smart camera range in the UK, Samsung Electronics is launching an integrated campaign backed by one of the best British photographers David Bailey (David Royston Bailey, born 1938), which aims to ‘democratise photography’ by proving that anyone can take amazing photos like Bailey with a Samsung NX camera.

To make this happen, the brand is inviting all David Bailey namesakes across the UK to sign up, and 200 of them will receive a Samsung NX1000 camera, get trained by the man himself, and even have their images featured in the campaign.

On the 29th of September, 200 Baileys will come together at a training event. They will also be given a series of weekly photography assignments, through a Facebook group and then Samsung will hero the resulting images in a second wave of advertising on Facebook, as well as in national press and online display executions.

The campaign was created by Cheil UK. The media, managed by Starcom, runs across digital and social media, press, video on demand, search, cinema and TV.

Below is one of the most famous photos of Catherine  Deneuve (who had actually been Bailey’s wife for 7 years) shot by David Bailey for the French Vougue in 1965.
