The Glenfiddich Distillery Gallery in Dufftown, Speyside, opened the second exhibition of work created by artists participating in its 2010 Residency program. The exhibition, which opened on Friday, August 27, features new pieces by five of the internationally-acclaimed artists currently living and working at The Glenfiddich Distillery: Damian Moppett (Canada), Carrie Iverson (USA), Shiau-Peng Chen (Taiwan), Matthew Sandager (USA) and Hayoung Kim (South Korea).
Ahead of the opening, Andy Fairgrieve, Curator for Glenfiddich’s residency program said, “This is a wonderful and diverse showcase of new artworks inspired by what the artists have seen and experienced during their time at Glenfiddich. Carrie Iverson will display her glass sculptures which include stunning cast-glass versions of whisky cask bungs which she created at the workshops of North Lands Creative Glass and Damian will premiere his mixed-media sculpture based on the mythical Highland creature called the Brollachan. We also have new works from the artists featured in our first exhibition, Hayoung, Matthew and Shiau-Peng. The first exhibition was very well received and I am sure visitors will be equally enthralled by the new one.”
A special opening event was also held on Friday, August 27, to which all were welcome. The exhibition is open from 12.30pm—5.30pm on Thursdays to Sundays until September 18. Admission is free.
