Sprite Asks Brazilians to ‘Refresh Their Ideas’ on Cans

What can be better than drinking Sprite? Coca-Cola Brazil believes that it is sipping your favorite soda from a can designed by you. In collaboration with WMcCann and RMG Connect, the brand launches a new customization campaign “Refresh Your Ideas” for its carbonated drink, inviting creative minds of Brazil to develop their own designs for the cans.

Entrants can draw their inspiration from works by urban graffiti artists Big Bruno, Fefe Talavera, Jotapê and Nina Moraes, who unveiled their own versions of what a can of Sprite should look like. They were embodying their visions with actual paint and brushes on air chimneys that looked like giant replicas of Sprite cans, one for each of the creatives. The result of their work (already on the limited-edition cans signed by the artists) as well as their biographies and photos of the live customization process can be now viewed on the website of the project.

The submission period runs from August 9 through November 3. The artists are invited to the online spot to choose, which version of Sprite—Sprite regular (a green background) or Sprite 2.Zero (a silver background) they would like to develop their design for. A range of tools, images and paints will help them take their impressive visualities to the digital sheet of paper. Once the submission is over, the 10-day public voting will run to determine the names of 30 “Refresh Your Ideas” best designers, who will receive a Xbox 360 video game as a prize.

The graffiti artists will select four designs from those uploaded by the entrants and announce four grand winners on December 7. Their artistic renderings will be featured on limited-edition Sprite cans to be launched in summer 2011.
