Stella Artois Is Backing the Annual St. Louis International Film Festival

Stella Artois, the iconic beer brand, which has been associated with art house cinema for quite a long time, is presenting the 19th Annual Stella Artois St. Louis International Film Festival, international film festivals in the Midwest. It will be running from November 11–21 and feature a roster of cinema celebrities and nearly 340 films, both feature and short.

The festival supported by one of the biggest fans of the film industry, the Stella Artois brand well-known for its dedication to the French movies of the 60-ies, will open with the premiere of “Casino Jack,” a drama film about ups and downs of lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s life. It was directed by George Hickenlooper and stars two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey. The program of the upcoming festival includes 200 shorts, 90 features and 48 documentaries from 44 countries (the schedule, screening locations along with the full list of films with descriptions and screening time is available on www.cinemastlouis.org).

This year, the SLIFF will also pay tribute to acclaimed representatives of the film sphere and will present special awards to Stacy Keach (“The Long Riders”), Harry Shearer (“The Truman Show”), Rob Nilsson (director of “Heat and Sunlight”), Stanley Nelson (director of “The Murder of Emmett Till”), and Jenna Fischer (“The Office”) for their significant achievements in the industry. The main venues for this year’s festival are Hi-Pointe Theatre, Tivoli Theatre, Plaza Frontenac Cinema, and Webster University’s Winifred Moore Auditorium. Last year’s award recipients included filmmakers behind such masterpieces as “Precious” (Audience Choice Award, Best Feature Film), “Cohen on the Bridge: Rescue at Entebbe” (Festival Prize, Best Documentary Short) and “Lost Paradise” (Best Short Award, Best of the Fest).

Cinema St. Louis, which is behind the film events in the city, also hosted The Stella Artois French Film Festival September 17-19 for the second year in a row. The famous brand and its cinema partner screened several French films (including revivals by Jacques Tati and Jean Renoir) with both original and English subtitles.
