The adidas brand has equipped its official ball of this year’s World Cup, brazuca, with six HD cameras to provide a deeper insight into the game. It is a custom-engineered version of the ball which will come rather as a tool to gather fans and players’ impressions and shoot a documentary film.
The “brazucam” ball has already been featured in a series of short videos that have been shot from the angle of the ball. It has been travelling across the globe to capture the football experiences, stars and fans, as they are getting ready for the major football tournament.
The spots star footballers Xavi Hernandez, Dani Alves, Cristian Tello, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manuel Neuer and Philip Lahm, who join the movement as the ball travels around the world with stops in Spain, Japan, Mexico and other countries.
The initiative positions brazucam as the protagonist that sees and tells what’s going on around it. The journey of the camera-ball is documented on @brazuca channel on Twitter as well as on the dedicated website, where fans can access a unique 360° image gallery. The brand will post the videos of the tour on its YouTube channel, one video per week.
Starting April 7, fans will be invited to enter competitions for a chance to win signed products from the footballers featured in the spots.
