“In today already walks tomorrow,” once wrote Friedrich von Schiller. This became the idea behind the new Future Perfect Art Contest initiated by the Beautiful/Decay label, “a printed book series and apparel line with a focus on experimental, grotesque, and groundbreaking art,” and sponsored by Toyota Prius. The brands are encouraging creative minds to share their visions of tomorrow though graphics (entrants can use any medium for unveiling their concepts), with the best works to be featured in the upcoming Beautiful/Decay book .
Toyota and Beautiful/Decay are inviting people who have unconventional and in a way surrealistic thinking to create and submit their visualties revolving around the Future Perfect theme until March 29. The winner, who will be announced by April 15, will get a package of Beautiful/Decay goods valued at $300 as well as a 10-15 page interview in Beautiful/Decay book 6 in June. The brands promise that they will also publish up to 70 other works submitted to the contest, in the upcoming issue.

Each artist can upload up to three images, which incorporate the idea of perfect future, with works to be sent together with a signed copy of the Official Rules. The cover of the 6th book will feature a vibrant charming work ‘Tired Prince’ by artist Robin Williams.
“Back in 2000, when Toyota engineers first put pen to paper, they envisioned a better world. The result of their innovative imaginations was the Toyota Prius. And it’s helped to save an estimated 881,079,756.18 gallons of gas in the U.S. since then. Their dreams gave way to real global change. This contest is born of that idea,” says Toyota in the description to the competition.
