Twitter Stories Show How 140 Characters Can Change Lives

Twitter has launched Twitter Stories, a new entertaining and marketing initiative that explores the ways people use Twitter. The social media company follows its last year’s Twitter Tales success. While ‘Tales’ was an effort to present «a series of quirky and inspiring articles» based on users’ answers to the question, ‘How do you use Twitter?’, this years Stories tells how Twitter has helped people to overcome problems or gain success.

The project that resembles the Facebook Stories already features stories about a man who found a kidney donor after tweeting, ‘Sh*t, I need a kidney’ and Japanese fishermen who sell the day’s catch via Twitter before they’ve even returned to shore. The most popular story that catch the eye of users when they go to Twitter Stories page is a ‘survival’ story about a young man Aaron Durant who helped his mother to save a bookstore during the crisis by launching a promo action on Twitter.

«In the past year, a job, an apartment, and the amazing man in my life have all come from Twitter. #TwitterStories,» tweeted @JessicaLawrence.

There are also highlights from well-known celebrities and brands including Roger Ebert, Ochocinco, Queen Rania Al Abdullah, and Burberry. «Each story reminds us of the humanity behind Tweets that make the world smaller,» Twitter wrote on its blog.

Users can submit their own stories by tweeting at @TwitterStories or including the hashtag #TwitterStories in their tweets. They are encouraged to include a link to a photo or video that helps illustrate their story to the world. Each month Twitter curates a selection of profiles to share.
