UNIQLO has launched its annual UNIQLO UT GRAND PRIX T-shirt design contest, open for international creatives who are asked to submit their own design concept for a chance to be sell it on the brand stores worldwide.

This year’s theme is music, focusing on six icons such as AC/DC, David Bowie, Madonna, KISS, the Sex Pistols and The Who. The point is that the artists will personally select the six winning entries in the Artist’s Choice Award category and the winner will each receive $4,000.
Consumers will also be able to make their choice and vote online, six winners in the People’s Choice Award category will be selected and awarded $1,000 each. UNIQLO will pay $30,000 in cash prizes in total.
The company will also select twelve entries for the Runner’s Up category to produce T-shirts for all twenty-four designs, which will become a part of the Spring/Summer 13 collection. The contest is open till September 2. The concepts can be submitted here.
The UTGP contest was first launched in 2005 and since that time inspired designers annually. The 2012 contest’s theme was Coca-Cola.
