Audi Urban Future Award 2014 launches under the “The Next Leap in Mobility” motto

Audi is launching its Urban Future Award 2014, joined by four interdisciplinary teams from across the globe that are exploring the theme of “The Next Leap in Mobility” in their urban development submissions. The participants are sharing their views on the change in mobility in four megapolices—Berlin, Boston, Mexico City and Seoul. The projects will relate to four theses, which highlight the current trends in mobility that emerge globally.

The four teams include specialists from a range of fields such as architects, urban planners, mobility specialists, scientists and young founders of start-ups. Together, these experts will develop projects that will offer a working solutions and concepts, based on in-depth insights into the related fields.

The four themes the contestants are exploring are: The boundaries between mobility and immobility are disappearing; Reality and virtuality are merging; Individuality and collectivity are not mutually exclusive, and Sustainability and progress are not contradictory. In the coming months, the entries will be documented and revealed on the competition’s page.

The works will be submitted by October, and the panel of international judges will review the projects and name the winner of the Audi Urban Future Award 2014. The winning team will walk away with 100,000 euros. It’s the fourth consecutive Audi Urban Future Award contest, and the vehicle manufacturer hopes that this year’s contestants will offer a bunch of new visionary ideas on how to drive urban mobility to the new heights.

“Future mobility is not a question of ideologies. The German car industry needs a concerted agenda with cities and local government. The mobility revolution is the great field of opportunity for the 21st century,” commented Rupert Stadler, CEO of AUDI AG.
