Clinique and Teen Vogue Announce Winner of Annual Clinique Fresh Faces Tour

Clinique and Teen Vogue named Maggie Schoonmaker the winner of the 2011 Clinique Fresh Faces Summer Internship. A senior news-editorial major from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Ms. Schoonmaker has been awarded a 10-week rotational internship at Clinique as well as a one-week, behind-the-scenes experiential opportunity at Teen Vogue in New York City. Runner-up Julie Merin, a senior from Boston University, will receive a one-week experience with Clinique and Teen Vogue.

After the Clinique Fresh Faces Tour traveled to college campuses and received thousands of applications online, a panel of Clinique and Teen Vogue experts selected 25 semi-finalists and America voted for the top five finalists. These young women were flown to New York City for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, given behind-the-scenes access to key executives from Clinique and Teen Vogue. They also received VIP treatment with a photo shoot that will appear in the April issue of Teen Vogue. A panel of judges interviewed each young woman about their accomplishments and career aspirations to select the next Clinique Fresh Face.

Ms. Schoonmaker’s passion lies in women’s empowerment as she spent a year volunteering at the YWCA of Boulder County, a non-profit that provides services to women and children. While supporting herself through college, she interned at three magazines while also working in the CU-Boulder Communications department. Prior to attending the University, her greatest achievement was being selected as one of 50 high school seniors to join the Presidents Leadership Class, an organization at the University of Colorado—Boulder whose mission is to develop extraordinary leaders in the community.

During the tour, each campus hosted a panel of industry experts who provided insider tips and shared personal stories about their career paths. Also, a team of beauty experts on-site advised participants on the best way to care for their skin and wear makeup that enhanced their natural beauty.
