Cointreau and Dita Von Teese Present Cointreau MargaDita, the Reinvention of the Margarita Cocktail

To become a muse for mixologists and inspire them to create a new cocktail (or present your own version) is an honour for any woman. The ambassador of Cointreau, gorgeous Queen of Burlesque Dita Von Teese is one of those who has her own new namesake cocktail called Cointreau MargaDita based on the iconic Margarita, the #1 selling cocktail in America. The new recipe is another addition to the global Cointreauversial campaign which has been featuring Dita since 2007.

It’s the second signature cocktail of the brand dedicated to its seducing ambassador, with the first, Cointreau Teese, being introduced in 2009. The original recipe, which inspired Cointreau MargaDita, was created by Margarita Sames, the bon vivante Dallas socialite, back in 1948, and since that time the cocktail tops the list of the most loved blends of this kind. As the press release states, Dita created her new cocktail, a tantalizing haute-cocktail with a spicy twist, which includes 1.5 oz Cointreau, 1.5 oz Silver Tequila, 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice, 1/2 oz Monin Rose Syrup plus 1 pinch Chipotle Spice, to toast alluring woman, who unfortunately passed away this past year.

«Margarita Sames was clearly a strong, confident, and stylish woman well known for her entertaining prowess—qualities that I both admire and, hopefully, embody,» commented Dita Von Teese. «Her Margarita recipe has been enjoyed for over 60 years and it seemed only natural for me to create my own cocktail as a tribute to this glamorous and charismatic woman

The reinvented Cointreau MargaDita cocktail is decorated with a petal of ‘the yellow rose of Texas’ to celebrate Sames’ native home state. The new addition to the range of branded Cointreau-based blends was introduced in New York on May 5.

«I wanted to keep the integrity of the original margarita recipe, but add a personal touch of my own.  The juxtaposition of floral notes with spicy elements makes for a seductive twist: aromatic Monin Rose Syrup for a hint of floral, feminine perfume, and a dash of chipotle powder for an unexpected spicy smack.  I think Margarita Sames would approve,» adds Dita Von Teese.
