The jury will accept the works that represent any kind of contemporary art including sculpture, video, performance, installation, sound, painting, etc. The jury commitee includes Kirsty Ogg, curator of the Whitechapel Gallery, artist Eva Rothschild, gallerist Sadie Coles, gallery director Darren Flook, curator Paul Pieroni, and visual arts editor of Dazed & Confused, Francesca Gavin.

Since it goes about emerging artists, only people under 35 that are not students of any art college or university may enter the competition. Another essential requirement is that the work of the contender should not be exhibited by any art gallery or venue in the U.K.

Converse/Dazed Emerging Artists Award can mark a terrific start in the life of an emerging artist, since the first prize winner will be entitled to £6,000 cash prize. Another 5 shortlisted candidates will receive £1,000 prize each. In September and October, the winner and runner-ups will have their portfolio of works exhibited in an art venue not far from the Whitechapel Gallery, which is located in East London.

The closing ceremony for the Converse/Dazed 2011 Emerging Artists Award is scheduled for October 2011, and is said to happen during 2011 Frieze Art Fair (October 13-16).
