Diet Coke and UK’s Channel 4 Showcase 11 «Hunks» in a Teaser Ad

Diet Coke is continuing to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Europe, focusing on the “hunk” theme. The brand has teamed up with Channel 4 in the UK to create a new short teaser, featuring the well-recognized faces from the channel’s most popular shows. The new spot follows the “Gardener” commercial, premiered on January, 28, and the promotional video featuring Marc Jacobs, the brand’s new creative director in Europe.

The spot stars hottest Chanel personalities—including “Made in Chelsea” Ollie Proudlock, TV presenters George Lamb and Rick Edwards—along with eight male models. The eleven men in the commercial are paying tribute to the “hunk” style—they are all wearing classic blue jeans and white tops. They all are sitting, standing or leaning against snow-white blocks that make up the “4” figure from the top view. The iconic Diet Cole can is placed next to each of them. The teaser, inspired by Channel 4’s identity, gets perfectly embedded into the narrative of the brand’s ongoing “Sparkling Together for 30 Years” campaign.

Diet Coke released a 20-second teaser on Channel 4 at 5:45pm on March 1 prior to airing the full-length version of “Gardener” at 8.50pm on the same day. Both of the spots have been aired in a tie-up until March 4. To support the new teaser, the Channel 4 TV personalities have been encouraging their Tweeter followers to join in the Diet Coke’s celebrations by watching the two ads on the channel.

It’s exciting for us to be able to continue the celebrations of Diet Coke’s 30th anniversary through innovative ways. The Diet Coke ‘hunk’ has become synonymous with the brand and is an instantly recognisable icon,” shared Zoe Howorth, Marketing Director for Coca-Cola Great Britain. “The reincarnation of a much-loved classic for the 30th anniversary allows us to bring some sparkle to viewers’ screens. The exciting idents and new TVC will also introduce a whole new generation of women to the Diet Coke ‘hunk’.”
