Domino’s Pizza Asks Americans to Design the Ultimate Delivery Vehicle

Domino’s Pizza, the world leading in pizza delivery has commenced a new crowdsourcing campaign in North America, asking consumers help design the Ultimate Delivery Vehicle. Earlier, the company invented various original methods of delivery including the Heatwave Bag, corrugated pizza box, magnetic car topper and Extreme Delivery

Now consumers have to switch on imagination and invent a new vehicle from the wheels up. To encourage people, Domino’s launches the first national television campaign featuring Patrick Doyle, Domino’s Pizza president and CEO. He is shown gathering feedback from current Domino’s delivery experts.

«Part of the excitement of this campaign is that none of us is really sure how the design will end up, or what it will feature,» said Russell Weiner, Domino’s Pizza chief marketing officer. «But one thing is for certain: we are always striving to get better—and while we are known as the delivery experts, we aren’t stopping there when it comes to ensuring the best pizza delivery experience possible for our customers.»

To create the upcoming vehicle Domino’s is partnering with Local Motors, a Phoenix-based open source, community-driven automobile designer and manufacturer. The contest will end on February 19, 2013 with the rendering stage.

Consumers can submit a design idea regarding exterior, packaging, interior and surfacing by visiting ultimatedeliveryvehicle.com. As part of the motivational strategy, Domino’s will be giving out more than $50,000 in prizes throughout the competition stages.
