Facebook wants to make its platform as developer-friendly as possible. The social media giant launches Developers Live, a Facebook app, which provides valuable curated content (tutorials, live and recorded speaking sessions and other visual educational pieces) and also helps them keep up to date on the latest Facebook news. The new hub targets mobile and game app developers as well as website managers and publishers, who will learn how to make a better content for the web and how to use the platform to maximize their profits.

“Developers Live is a curated video channel that features live, recorded and interactive broadcasts, giving developers a central place to learn about the latest tools and to get access to the product managers and engineers who created them,” writes Giselle Schmitz, Developer Marketing at Facebook. The first live event, slated for February 19, will see Doug Purdy, Director of Product at Facebook, who will be discussing three key things mobile developers need to know in 2013. The Developers Live app is another way to encourage communication between Facebook team and developers—previously, the company’s product managers and engineers were sharing their thoughts only in the text format on Developers Blog, and now video will help deliver information in a much more engaging way. With this move, Facebook follows in the footsteps of Google, which is successfully running its Google Developers Live with a plethora of Hangouts and a comprehensive library of videos.
