Google Chrome: Unconventional Speed Tests

Google Chrome developers have demonstrated how quickly the browser works by comparing it with fast things from real life. They make the browser compete with a speeding potato shot from a special cannon, sound waves made by a splash of pink paint, lightning sent by a giant Tesla coil, and other things that are considered to be meteoric.

Google says, “Chrome’s performance has improved by as much as 213% and 305% on the V8 and SunSpider benchmarks over the previous beta channel release.» The developers of the video conducted the tests on MacBook Pro laptop with Windows installed and 15Mbps of the Internet connection, which is more than enough for such an experiment. To make high quality and accurate video material, Google team used Phantom v640 and the Phantom Gold high-speed cameras.

The spot was made by BBH, Google Creative Lab and Aaron Duffy. As Google reports, «these speed tests were filmed at actual web page rendering times.»
