Google Introduces New Educational Programs

Google, which unveiled a bunch of new products at Google I/O last week, is committed not only to providing its users with more refined services and online experience, but also to sharing its knowledge and expertise with aspiring developers, contributing to the future of the web (and Google itself). The internet giant, which has been engaging younger generation of developers through its programs and seasonal sessions for quite a long time, has launched an online destination, Google Developers Live, which works as “a place for developers to connect face-to-face with Google engineers as well as each other in a live setting,” states the company in a blog post. In addition to this, the king of the web has initiated another two programs, Google Developers Academy and Google Developers University Consortium, which allow users to study when it’s convenient for them, not in real time only.

These new educational platforms allow users to get a deeper insight into the world of building new products, apps and services unveiled by Google experts, as well as get in touch with academics who use Google’s tools in their work. In Google Developers Academy users will be able to access “courses covering a variety of services like Google App Engine, Google Drive, YouTube, and our many advertising APIs.” Wesley Chun, a member of the Google Developer Relations team, also adds in the blog that the program to be expanded with new lessons, which will appear regularly on the website. The themes include Ads, Maps, Cloud, Drive, YouTube and more—each category has at least one course.

The second new destination, Google Developers University Consortium, is a collaborative community of people who apply Google’s products to foster education worldwide, provide their students with information and conducting research in a more technological and ‘Google’ way. Google encourages public to contribute their content to help others build a more successful course, make an announcement about an upcoming event or about a discovery, tell their own story of success or recognize an outstanding student and join the discussion with professors and experts from other universities around the globe.
