Google to Move to Greener and Bigger Place

Google known for its insatiable passion for innovation and sustainability, has outgrown itself and is planning to leave Googleplex for a bigger and greener place. After looking for a decent design project, the Internet giant stopped its choice on Germany-based architectural firm Ingenhoven that has a reputation of one of the best firm in its field in Germany.

The 10-acre campus Google is planning to build will be constructed using innovative sustainable technologies in the city of its current location, Mountain View, California. To date nothing is known about what the new Google venue will look like, but according to San Jose Mercury News, the land deal is in place, design plans are slated to be presented by the end of May and construction could begin in 2012.

As far as Ingenhoven is concerned, the designs created by the agency are modernistic and sustainable, which means the structures allow for economic use of energy and water. The company is currently in charge of re-designing Stuttgart train station, and has designed offices for International Criminal Court, The Hague, Netherlands as well as Daniel Swarovski Corporation in Zurich, Switzerland (see above).

Google is not the only brand to demonstrate its dedication to the environment by comissioning a sustainable design project for its future headquarters. Yesterday we announced that L’Oreal Green Academy of Hair-Styling had opened its doors in Madrid, Spain. The interior design of the Academy is featuring eco-friendly building materials, the venue has special facilities for water filtering and collection of used package to be further recycled.
