Hermès reveals the “Tie Break” app for men to master the art of tie-tying

French apparel and accessories house Hermès, which is better known for women’s scarves and bags as well as luxury home accessories, has launched an app that is supposed to help all men to look truly classy. The application aptly called “Tie Break” is educating male consumers on how to choose a tie and execute various knots.

The application, that is available for both Android and iOS in English and French, allows to flip through different tie looks and products from the Fall-Winter 2014 collection, see if the pattern of the tie matches the shirt, master the art of tying the tie with a flick of the wrist, play fun arcade games—“tie breaks,” see GIFs and cartoons, and more.

The touch of gamification makes the app a great assistant that guides a consumer across the domain of ties. It lets users  interact with the new collection and become real experts in the tie-tying magic after going through the “How to Knot” sketched diagrams that provide step-by-step instructions.

The dedicated site reveals a sneak-peek into the Tie Break app, taking a user on a short tour across what the application has inside. Hermès describes the app as “the handy app to help you take a break from the harsh realities of office, airport or public transport…or even a dull date.”

The Spring-Summer collection also includes a special “Time Break” edition that has a QR code—when the tie is scanned with a smartphone, the app starts to download. The music for the application and the teaser (view it above) is composed by Cedric Marszewski (aka Pilooski), who has created soundtracks for the label’s women show and knows the ethos of the brand perfectly.

Recently, the brand released the “Silk Knots” application to show female consumers how to be creative with their Hermès scarves.
