Tree-planting movement is already joined by a number of brands including Avon, Timberland, Finlandia Vodka, IKEA, Odwalla and many more. The idea of providing consumers an opportunity to give back to nature while buying something natural was recently adopted by another brand, Coca-Cola’s Honest Tea, which partnered with the National Forest Foundation to kick off its Bag to Tree reforest campaign across the USA.
Starting April 5 through April 30, those who buy four or more bottles of Honest Tea will get a free reusable shopping bag with a unique code, which allows to do good to national forests in a couple of seconds via an Internet location. After a consumer redeems the code at the www.honesttea.com website, he or she can access the list of five regions statewide to choose where a new tree will be planted with their ‘distant help.’ The organic bottled tea brand and the National Forest Foundation are going to plant 50,000 trees (so far, 20 are planted) in range of affected regions across the country: the Midwest (prairie restoration), the West and Rocky Mountains (affected by wildfires), the Southeast (reforestation) and the Northeast (hydrology renewal).
“I’m delighted that we are able to build on our earliest commitment to the planet by planting 50,000 trees this year,” commented Seth Goldman, co-founder and TeaEO of Honest Tea. “Bag to Tree allows us to support an important sustainability program by joining with the National Forest Foundation, and it allows us to help our consumers be actively involved in helping the environment.”
The brand is also arranging a number of volunteering activities this month around the Earth Day (April 14), which will engage activists in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago Virginia and Northern California, and will extend the initiative by arranging additional tree-planting events in Florida and Atlanta, Georgia.
