IKEA Introduces Party Proof Kitchens and Invites Consumers to Test Them Online

When you buy kitchen furniture, you want it be super durable and indestructible, but the cooking and dining section seem to be the most aggressive space in the house. IKEA provides 25-year guarantee to its furniture and shows that it can resist most damages, even those made during parties. On its UK website, the manufacturer created an interactive demonstration of what this furniture can bear.

To deliver the fun and engaging experience, IKEA teamed up with the Mother agency, which has been behind most of the UK advertising promotions for the retailer. On the dedicated page, there’s a Party Proof Kitchen interactive piece, which allows visitors to pull and drag a guy all over the red and white kitchen. As he jumps to the right, left, up and down, the guy spills champagne, drops metal spoons and forks on the counters, slams doors, chins up on the frames and more.

During this test ‘journey,’ users can learn more about the kitchen’s qualities. “We through grease and liquid on our surfaces and leave it for a day. After 23 hours, we add coffee and alcohol and leave it for another hour. Then we clean up the worst of the mess with kitchen paper and wait another day to clean it properly. After all this, we only approve stain-free surfaces,” says the brand about its surfaces. IKEA also conducted tests to make sure the kitchen components are truly reliable. “To make sure the shelves in our kitchen cabinets don’t sag, we put a 27 kg weight on a 80 cm shelf to simulate 60 plates (or 27 bottles of champagne) and keep it there for a week.”

IKEA invites to choose the right kitchen using an interactive tool and find out more about the kitchens here.
