Kit Kat was turned into a killer in a new spot by Greenpeace. With the help of the new shock video the environmental organization wants to show that Nestlé, the producer of the chocolate brand, destroys forests for palm oil and kills orangutans, living there.
The video is made in the style of iconic Kit Kat commercials — a manager is having a break and eating the sticks, but the crème-filling is its blood. The sport is to raise awareness among the fans of the brand and a way to convince them to give the orangutan his break. If you feel that Greenpeace is right, join the campaign by skipping to the website.
Nestlé doesn’t believe it’s guilty now and so has released a press message stating: “Nestlé has replaced the Indonesian company Sinar Mas as a supplier of palm oil with another supplier for further shipments. We confirm that Nestlé has only bought from Sinar Mas for manufacturing in Indonesia, and no palm oil bought from Sinar Mas has been used by Nestlé for manufacturing in any other country. We have also joined other major purchasers of palm oil in making sure that companies, such as Cargill, understand our demands for palm oil which is not sourced from suppliers which destroy rainforests.”
On the request of the confectionary giant, YouTube deleted the video, and now it can be watched on Vimeo or downloaded right from the website of the campaign.
