KLM helps its customers get the maximum of their travels. The airline company is inviting travelers to use the newly launched service, “KLM must see map,” to crowdcourse an actual high-quality printed city map, which includes tips from your friends in social media. The online service has been launched as the major pillar of the campaign under the same name, devised and developed by Dutch agency Code d’Azur.
Here’s how it works: you go to the dedicated www.mustseemap.klm.com page, click the “create my own free map” button, select the city from the drop-down list, name your map, and then invite friends to add tips with comments via Facebook, Twitter and email. Once the personalized city map is filled with the desired number of sightseeings (the map owner also can add his or her tips, too), you can order the map to be sent—the map will be delivered to your home for free within three weeks. Currently, the campaign is running in 24 countries.
“One of the biggest challenges was to ensure that the physical map was a perfect representation of the destination, with the tips provided by friends. To realize this, we co-operated intensively with both Google and the printing company. Another level of technological complexity was added by the fact that the application needed to be localized for a large variety of countries,” shared Nik Nieuwenhuijs, Code d’Azur.
Previously, the company launched the «Meet and Sit» service to let fellow passengers get to know each other, through Facebook and Twitter.
