McDonald’s Is to Release a 2010 FIFA World Cup British Ad

McDonald’s, the biggest fast-food chain in the world and an official sponsor of the 2010 World Cup, is to launch its football commercial designed just for the England, Scotland and Wales consumers. The release of the new spot, which is revolving around the “Just passing by” ode again and continues last year’s “Favourites” campaign, is slated for June 5.

They take everyday life at McDonald’s and celebrate how the restaurant provides something for everyone, football fan or not, as Britain lives through the ups and downs of the tournament,” comments Jill McDonald, UK & Northern Division chief marketing officer.

The campaign will include a commercial and a massive outdoor and press promotion. McDonald’s will be displaying a series of themed messages on the sign in London’s Piccadilly, and the people around will be able to feel the spirit of the sport event and become a part of a Mexican wave. The fast-food chain is also offering a limited-edition Mars-flavour milkshake for the period of June, and the audience in the streets will have a chance to win free sampling of the new product.

The ad is developed by Leo Burnett.
