Recently, another automobile giant, Audi gave a preview of its next-generation human-machine interface technology, called MMI, which included advanced hand-gesture recognizing touchpads available to ‘read’ palpable signals and feedback.

To keep pace, the #1 UK Superbrand unveiled details of its technologies. The driver is guided intuitively around the menu structure by ‘flowing movements and fluidly animated transitions’, says Motor Authority. Three-dimensional on-screen presentations make getting and understanding information a more intuitive process.

With voice control covering most functions, supported by gestures and touch, in the closest future the operation will be made even more intuitive, says the automaker. Such functions as dictating e-mails or cellphone messages will become reality.

Another new feature presented is the so called ‘free voice browsing,’ which involves the driver into a conversation with the vehicle. The driver can ask questions, e.g. about the weather in New York and the system will answer.

It’s not known yet, when Mercedes-Benz will use these technologies. But some features for the current COMAND Online multimedia system will be on market this fall. The supporting apps for Facebook, Twitter and Google will be available too.
