Microsoft is launching a Bing Fund, an online platform that will “help you make the world a better place …” as the dedicated Twitter account says.  The new initiative will serve as a tool for entrepreneurs and startups in Bing.

There’s also a link to a web page that is not functional yet but says «We’re working on something fun and will have more to share soon.»

According to ZDNet, the head of the new Bing Fund is Rahul Sood who was a General Manager in Microsoft’s Xbox business but starting March 2012 became General Manager of the Bing Fund. Microsoft is currently searching for a creative director for the project. The job posting describes it:

“The Bing Fund portfolio includes startups working on the web, desktop, mobile and console. Because of the pace and variety of Bing Fund startups, the type of work (for a creative director on the Bing Fund) can vary hugely.”

The Bing Fund will focus on Microsoft technologies, of course. It follows from another job posting which says: “Bing Fund, a small team working with startups and accelerators to bring a wave of innovation to OSD (Online Service Devision), is looking for a talented engineer with broad experience with Microsoft’s web/cloud stack.” 

Microsoft’s OSD includes not only Bing but MSN, ad Center, and advertiser tools. The company has given its Bing search engine a new push in the beginning of this year with a new campaign that featured a tagline ‘Bing is for Doing’.
