Pepsi Max has released an African-inspired music track called ‘Oh, Africa’, made by R’n’B Grammy nominees artists Akon and Keri Hilson, to help African people in need. The video for the song features global football superstars Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba as well as two-time Grammy-winning the Soweto Gospel Choir. The anthem started to be available to download yesterday and proceeds from the sakes will be donated to organizations supporting underprivileged African youth.
The video premiered during the Grammy Awards Pre-Telecast stream on “Grammy Live” yesterday and the track was set for international sale. The campaign is going to collect money for a number of charities, Akon’s Konfidence Foundation, being one of the main, and it is to receive the major share of the proceeds from the sale of the song.
“We’re really excited about the new track and music video from multi-platinum selling Artist Akon and Grammy-nominee Keri Hilson and hope it raises money for less fortunate children in Africa,” said Ahmed Abdel-Karim, UK marketing manager for Pepsi.
The song is going to be used as the main sountrack of the Pepsi’s football 2010 advertising campaign. It is also to become the key musical composition of the brand’s “Refresh Your World» campaign, aiming at providing positive changes in the communities of people who participate in it.
The colourful video is definitely attracting attention and making you feel in the very heart of Africa. «The whole aura of it is so fun, the color, the painting and the drums. It brings out all the cultural parts of Africa you can ever think of and it doesn’t even seem like a video, it seems more like a work of art that just happens to be a video. I hope you enjoy the look behind the scenes,» said Akon.
