Pinterest Testing a New Look with Bigger Pins and Faster Navigation

Pinterest, which actually started the tile layouts trend, continues to evolve. Now, the visual social network is about to test a new look, which will be available to a small group of users in the coming weeks. The new design is created to make the search on the platform more user-friendly and deliver more relevant content to pinners.

The network will introduce a better, more intuitive navigation to help users search faster. In addition, the pins will be bigger and will have more related information—“on each pin, you’ll see pins from the same board, other boards this pin was pinned to, and a whole slew of related pins,” notes Vy Phan, Software Engineer in the blogpost. The platform also provides its active users with an opportunity to see the new look in detail before it rolls out broadly—interested pinners are invited to request early access to Pinterest’s new look.

In mid-January, Pinterest started to roll out a new feature called News, which replaces the Activity tab, to make it easier for users to track the activity around their pins and find more related and exciting boards. “Rather than show text updates about your pins that other people repinned, this renovated News section will now show you the boards to which your pins were repined,” explains Pinterest Help Center.
